Currently the operating system is Android 2.3.  It will be followed by and 3.0 as soon as Google makes it available for market. Our Cortex A9 CPU is one of the most powerful processors available at this time. The ARM mali400 GPU performs excellent for many applications including on line videos and gaming. The stylish design with 11 mm thickness makes the unit attractive and easy to handle.  A one mini-USB, one micro-USB and mini-HDMI provide all the connections you need on the go and at home. Coming to market soon, the sizes of LCD Touch Screen will be increased from 7″, 9.7” to 12″, 14″ or larger in 2012. The Capacitive ISP TFT LCD Touch Panels will be joined by Voltage Driven Multi-touch controller (10-points touch) models for higher sensitive touch.

Green Technology

There will be a presentation by John Regalbuto, Professor UIC about Green Technology.

John comments that in the last few years NSF (National Science Foundation) has been at the lead in promoting a new cellulosic biofuels paradigm:  green gasoline.  Recent advances in catalysis and biocatalysis hold great promise for new pathways to the mass production of next generation non-food hydrocarbon biofuels: gasoline, diesel and jet fuel mass produced from switchgrass, forest waste, and agricultural residue.  The potential advantages of hydrocarbon production from lignocelluosic feedstocks will be discussed vis-à-vis cellulosic ethanol, the newest pathways will be outlined, and recent concern about lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from biofuel production will be addressed.

Stay or Go?

I recently saw on TV that College Illinois Prepaid Tuition program is underfunded.  It suffered a deficit due to a miscalculation in the percent rise of college costs and the interest predicted on investments.  The knee jerk reaction of many was to remove their funds before the program collapsed.  I am invested in this fund and chose to remove my funds as well.  It is my belief the fund is a great opportunity to send your children to college.  One must weigh and balance the opportunity risks.  The cost of the risk is the opportunity foregone.  At consideration is possibly losing a great deal of money, or the possibility of a locked in tuition.  While there are more details that are left out, this is the essential choice.  I am a calculated risk taker and chose to place the funds in a differently managed risk.  One key factor was the reputation of the management and their track record.  My gut instinct is that College Illinois will pull out of this fiasco, but I made a more conservative choice.  The question I ask you is this:  What have you done today to ensure your reputation is the highest in your industry?  What metrics have you employed to garner your track record?  Have you taken a look at your business or personal action plans lately?  Are your customer's in the process of trying to decide whether to stay or go?

As a person who used to sell resin to injection molders, I think this club may provide some opportunities to likeminded individuals concerned about Green Technologies.

Springboard a new you

During these rough economic times, one can wonder what it takes to build a personal brand.  A person should choose to answer the question instead:  How do I springboard a new me?  People should focus on who they are and utilize their gifts rather than worry just about their business "brand".  As a person who dislikes vague statements, I will endeavor to explain how to achieve a new springboard.  I submit that every person on earth is an accumulation of every experience and person who has touched their life.  Therefore, the first step in building your springboard is expanding your experiences and who you know.  Begin by taking an old friend to lunch or attending a bookstore discussion on a topic you enjoy.  Ask them who they think you are and what gifts you may have that are underutilized.  They will illuminate more possibilities.  Write these ideas on note cards.  They will begin to fit together as if they are a puzzle.  Have a goal everyday to either meet one new person, or one new experience.  It is in the numbers that the springboard will vault you up to developing a new me.  The business brand will naturally follow.
